Mobilising $40 Billion. Powering Nigeria's Energy Future.
The Green Finance and Investment Facility is Nigeria's first privately-led blended finance platform for distributed renewable energy.
A New Architecture for Energy Finance
The Green Finance and Investment Facility is a blended finance platform designed to mobilise private capital into Nigeria's distributed renewable energy sector at scale.
GFIF does not compete with existing capital sources. It functions as an integrated coordination platform, aggregating concessional debt, results-based grants, and guarantee instruments into a single, repeatable transaction architecture.
The result is a structure that makes distributed energy projects bankable for commercial lenders, scalable for developers, and accountable for public funders.
Nigeria's First Syndicated Blended Finance Instrument for Distributed Renewable Energy.
Launched on 7 May 2026, the GFIF Pilot Syndicated Financing Facility is a $188 million transaction financing 191MW of distributed solar energy across 12 lots and 9 developer entities in Nigeria. It is the first transaction of its kind structured specifically for the distributed renewable energy sector.
